Introduction:

With the increasing quality of modern life, standards committees have defined emission requirements for these household appliances or similar devices used for living purposes in terms of RFI from 9 kHz to 400 GHz, according to CISPR 14 .1 and GB4343.1  The standard proposed by the test method, regardless of the power supply mode is AC or DC (or battery), all household appliances or similar equipment to carry out electromagnetic compatibility testing, the following to see what products in life is the need to test the electromagnetic compatibility of the list of household appliances and equipment.

List of household equipment to be tested for EMC:

  • Household appliances or similar purpose equipment utilized in the following examples:
  • Used for typical housekeeping functions in a domestic environment, including homes and their associated buildings, gardens, etc;
  • For typical housekeeping functions in stores, offices, businesses and other similar work environments;
  • Used on the farm;
  • Used by customers in hotels and other residential type environments;
  • For induction cooking or air conditioning in residential or commercial environments;
  • Power tools. (Includes electric motor-driven or electromagnetically driven hand-held tools, portable tools, and lawn and garden machines.)
  • External power controllers using semiconductor devices;
  • Electric medical equipment;
  • Electric toys;
  • Personal care and beauty care appliances;
  • Vending machines;
  • Amusement Machines;
  • Movie projector or slide projector;
  • Battery charger and external power supply for use with the above products;
  • Electric fence motivator;
  • sweeper

The above products are those explicitly required by the standard to be tested for EMC.

What test items are required to test the EMC of household electrical equipment?

The table below gives the requirements of the above test items that need to be met by household electrical equipment that needs to be tested for EMC. The table suggests the following different tests for a wide range of different products:

CISPR14.1 Requirements for test items to be met by household electrical equipment subject to EMC testing

CISPR14.1 Requirements for test items to be met by household electrical equipment subject to EMC testing

Other household equipment:

The following devices are also part of the household equipment and they also need to be tested for EMC, but they are not required by the CISPR 14.1 standard and therefore are not included in the above list of devices that need to be tested.

  • Lamps, including removable lamps for children, discharge lamps and other lighting equipment within the scope of GB/T17743, CISPR15.
  • Information technology equipment, such as home computers, personal computers, electronic photocopiers within the scope of GB/T9254.1; audio/video equipment and electronic musical instruments other than toys within the scope of GB/T9254.1.
  • Grid communication devices, including baby monitoring systems.
  • equipment falling within the scope of GB4824 (e.g. microwave ovens).
  • However, attention should be paid to multifunctional devices (e.g. another function requiring click measurement).
  • Radio control devices, walkie-talkies and other types of radio transmitters: arc welding equipment.
  • (a) Equipment intended for use only on vehicles, ships or aircraft.
  • Only for equipment used in industrial environments.
  • Effects of electromagnetic phenomena related to equipment safety

The above products need to be tested with reference to other EMC test standard requirements.
