Introduction:
The VTSD 9561F is a 10 dB pulse limiter manufactured by Schwarzbeck, Germany and authorized for sale by EUTTEST in Shenzhen, China. The limiter has a built-in 10 dB high power attenuator and a fuse lamp to protect sensitive measurement equipment EMI receivers during measurements in the high energy spectrum.

VTSD 9561F Pulse Limiter Principle of Operation:
When testing for EMI radiated interference, if there are very high RF signals coming in at the input of the pulse limiter, they will be cut down by the limiter in the time domain, and the excess energy will be converted to light in the built-in small bulb. Cutting the signal in the time domain means - after the Fourier transform - that additional spectral lines (intermodulation) appear in the frequency domain. In this case, the receiver input is successfully protected, but this measurement must be rejected as invalid. If it is still necessary to test this large signal, additional fixed attenuators must be added to the limiter input connector ports to reduce the signal, and then ensure that the lamp of the VTSD9561F does not light up before continuing the test.
Testing Guidelines:
The 9561F Pulse Limiter protects the EMI receiver input from high-energy interference levels in excess of 100 dBμV, while lower-energy DUT signals can be output with a fixed attenuation of 10 dB, thus protecting the receiver and measuring the signal to be tested.
WARNING: The input connector of the VTSD 9561 F Pulse Limiter must be connected to a source of interference (e.g. LISN) and the output connector must be connected to the meter that needs to be protected, i.e. it distinguishes between inputs and outputs, and if the wrong reverse application is used you will lose the warranty power of this product.
