Introduction:
The SBA 9113B is a biconical antenna designed by Schwarzbeck, Germany, based on the popular SBA 9113 for testing harmonics, but Schwarzbeck has improved the baroclinic portion of the antenna to operate down to 80 MHz at low frequencies. The antenna is distributed and quoted for sale by EUTTEST, Shenzhen. The SBA9113B's balun has excellent high-frequency performance and, in combination with the low-frequency extension, the SBA9113B can be used as a frequency-selective field probe for immunity testing, e.g., in conjunction with a spectrum analyzer or EMI receiver according to IEC 61000-4-3. Depending on the frequency, a field strength of 1 V/m can give a receiver reading of 60-95 dBµV on an EMI receiver. Although the SBA 9113B can be connected directly to receivers with field strengths up to 30 V/m, we usually recommend using a fixed pad on the antenna connector. The better impedance matching results in greater measurement accuracy and shifts the output level to the proper range even at the highest field strength levels.
