Introduction:
The HFRA 5159 is a transmitting loop antenna manufactured by Schwarzbeck, Germany and authorized for sale by EUTTEST Shenzhen. The HFRA 5159 has 3 BNC connectors. Connector A is used to inject a 50 Ω constant voltage source into the antenna to generate a constant magnetic field strength with respect to frequency. Connector C is used to monitor the loop current by measuring the voltage drop across a 10 Ω resistor. This mode of operation linearizes the loop current by means of a series resistor, which produces a flat frequency response, but the achievable magnetic field strength is limited. The loop antenna can also be driven via connector B, which connects the loop inductor in series with a 10 Ω resistor. In this case, the loop current must be checked by measuring the voltage drop across the 10 Ω resistor. We recommend to use a high impedance voltage measurement device at connector C.
