Introduction:
The 422NJ is a test device manufactured by Schwarzbeck, Germany and authorized for sale by EUTTEST.ISO 11452-9 Hand-held transmitter immunityand Ford RI115 biconical antennas that meet the requirements of the RI115 handheld transmitter immunity test program of the Ford EMC test standard Ford EMC CS 2009; and the ISO11452-9 standard.422 The NJ's test frequency range covers 800 MHz - 6 GHz.
Relationship between 422NJ and 420NJ:
After the successful introduction of near-field immunity testing using the SBA 9113 and the flat element 420 NJ, the need for higher frequencies arose. While the 420 NJ element is used in the frequency range of 360 MHz to 2.7 GHz, it is now possible to use the 422 NJ to cover the frequency range of 800 MHz to 6 GHz. The 422 NJ can be mounted in parallel or perpendicular to the Barron SBA 9119 with a high quality plastic fitting.

422 NJ Parallel or Vertical Mount on Barron SBA 9119
Two knurled nuts are used to connect the radiating elements to the symmetrical feeder terminals of the SBA 9119 Barron. In addition, these elements are equipped with a spacer that provides a repeatable spacing of 5 mm from the surface of the EUT. Replacing a conical element with a flat element or vice versa requires a simple screwdriver and can usually be accomplished in less than two minutes. Flat elements can be arranged perpendicular or parallel to the mounting tube of the SBA 9119, depending on the space available in the respective application.

Antenna structure:
The 422NJ is just the elemental part of a biconical antenna and needs to be paired with the following antenna baluns in order to be used.
Typical range of applications:
The combination of the SBA 9119 Balun and the flat element 422 NJ provides excellent field strength levels at moderate transmit power. At a transmit power of approximately 10 watts, field strengths of 300 V/m can be achieved at a distance of 30 mm, which only requires fine tuning of the power over a wide frequency range. The recommended spacing between the EUT surface and the 422 NJ element is 30 mm. This spacing provides both high efficiency and good field uniformity. In most applications, the EUT surface is divided into a square grid, the width of which depends on the desired field uniformity. For each grid intersection, two frequency sweep measurements are made with orthogonal polarization. This process is repeated for each remaining grid intersection until the entire EUT surface is covered. The recommended grid width is approximately 30 to 50 mm.
